We are pleased to inform the member countries that the package prices for the 2001 Seoul 36th World Skills Competition has been confirmed at the World Skills Executive Meeting held on November 11-12, 2000 in Zurich.

The Packages include packages for the delegates and candidates who are wishing to participate at the 36th World Skills Competition. The relevant information on the packages, which has been prepared in English, French and German are being sent to each memeber through emails and faxes. Package Information

The Organization Committee for the Seoul 36th World Skills Competition has put together four different welcome packages for the members of the official World Skills delegates. These packages include accommodation, certain meals, transportation, excursions and participation in official ceremonies.

¡à Package No. 1 is specifically designed for candidates and team leaders.
    It covers eleven days, from September 9 ¡­20, 2001.

¡à Package No. 2 is for technical delegates, experts and registered interpreters.
    However, official WorldSkills delegates and observers, as well as any person
    who is part of the official delegation. This package covers fourteen nights from
    September 6 ¡­ 20, 2001.

¡à Package No. 3 is for official delegates, official observers and observers who are
    part of the official delegation. It covers the same period as Package No. 1, that
    is from September 9 ¡­ 20, 2001.

¡à Package No. 4 is for official short-term visitors from member countries.
    Registration must be taken place via each member country's delegation. Daily
    cost is fixed and no discounts are offered for a longer stay. This package
    provides the same official tours and events provided in Packages No.
    1,2,3(Welcome reception, opening & closing ceremony, farewell party) on the
    condition that the visitors pay the certain costs for each activities.

¡Ø Reference
1. To be a part of a country's official delegation, the person must be registered, using the
    appropriate form through the delegate of that country.
2. Taxes and services charges are included in the package prices.
3. All package prices are in korean won(£Ü)

¡ØVisitors who want to participate in the competition regardless to the package
programs have to make reservations through tour agencies. Individual
participants will not be considered as the official delegates and their participation
may be restricted from certain activities. In the case of attending the
opening¡¤closing ceremonies and competition, tickets will be sold at the spot.

Excursion Information

¡à Kyongbokgung Palace
Kyongbokgung Palace (Historic Site No. 117) was built in 1395 by King Taejo, the founder of the Chosun Dynasty as the primary residence for the royal family. Among the five palaces in Seoul, Kyongbokgung Palace is the largest and most beautiful in architectural style. The elegant pavilions such as the Kyonghoeru and Hyangwonjong and other refined wooded and stone structures such as Kunjongjon Hall, and the ten storied stone pagoda of Kyongchonsa Temple displays the unique charm and beauty of Korean architecture. The National Folk Museum which was opened in 1975, is located in the compound, exhibiting many artifacts that demonstrate various traditional Korean ways of life.

¡àSeoul Tower
Seoul Tower which stands on the top of Mt. Namsan is the third highest tower (240m) in the
world. It was completed in 1975. Elevators run to the observation platform located 480m
above sea level at a speed of 4m/sec. The view of Seoul seen from the 2nd and 3rd
observation floors and the revolving observation platform on the 5th floor is especially
magnificent at night. On the first basement floor a wide variety of amusements ranging from
Korean restaurants, aquarium, marine life museum, fancy world, game center and souvenir
shops can be found. Other tourist attractions near the tower are the octagonal pavilion, a
beacon, An-Junggeun Memorial Hall, botanical garden and the cable car that operates back
and forth to the tower.

¡à Korean Folk Village
Located 41km south of Seoul and 3km from the Shingil Interchange on the Seoul-Pusan Expressway, the Korean Folk Village is surrounded by beautiful trees and stream. The Korean Folk Village which covers 158,944m2 is the recreation area where one can gain an insight into the Korean lifestyles during the 500 years of Chosun Dynasty (1392-1910). There are more than 282 reconstructed farm houses reflecting the characteristics of each province, district offices, blacksmith shop, village school, mansion of the typical noble class with 99 rooms, outdoor market place and plenty of other artifacts. Performances of the traditional farms band are shown in an outdoor amphitheater. You can also enjoy special performances such as the traditional wedding ceremonies. Other amusement facilities include the horse racing track where you can enjoy riding horses or ponies, Korean swings and carrousel.

¡àEverland
Yongin Everland opened in 1976, is a complete leisure complex comprised of various amusement facilities such as the Eagle Fortress, Global Village, Twilight Zone, botanical garden that leads to the tulips, roses and chrysanthemums festival according to their bloom every season, and the most prestigious zoo in Korea. This family park includes other convenient facilities such as the huge free parking lot. Yongin Everland is best-loved for the magnificent Hoam Art Gallery which displays over 5,000 pieces of art is recognized as the comprehensive cultural center where people can learn both traditional and modern art.

General Information on the packages

¤·Under no circumstances can the package offered be changed.
¤·The cost of the packages does not include the optional activities, excursions or personal expenses.
¤·The Organization Committee for the 2001 Seoul 36th World Skills Competition will do everything in its power to respect the hotel category requested by participants, but cannot firmly guarantee anything given the constraints involved in operations.
-Due to the limited numbers of rooms, rooms will be assigned in the order of registration.
-All the Technical Delegates will be accommodated in the Grand Intercontinental Hotel.
¤·It is strictly prohibited to use any fuel in the hotel rooms to prepare food or for any other reason.

Payment for the packages
¤·A bill indicating the total cost of the packages for the entire delegation will be sent to the World Skills Official Delegates of each member country upon receiving their definite registration form.
¤·25% of the total amount must be paid by February 10, 2001 and the remaining amount not later than July 7, 2001.
¤·In the case payment is not received by July 7, 2001, a 1% penalty will be additionally charged to the unpaid balance for each day delayed. Method of Payment
oAll payment (initial payment and balance) for the packages must be made in Korean won and all expenses arising in the process of transmitting the payment must be born by the participating member country.
oThe payment for the packages will be received by telegraphic transfer(T/T). The payment must be sent with a copy of the relevant invoice to the following address.

Registration schedule

¤·January 10, 2001 : Deadline for receiving definite registration form
¤·February 10, 2001 : Deadline for receiving 25% of the total amount
¤·July 7, 2001 : Deadline for receiving payment in full
¤·Method of payment : Package payment information will be informed when the bills are sent, after the definite registration forms are received
1.Nominative registration schedule will be informed on March 2001 after the Technical Committee Meeting.
2.Those wishing to take advantage of Package No. 4 (Day Package) must register before July 7, 2001. Full payment must be made upon receiving the bill.

Cancellations and Substitutions

The following cancellation charges will apply per participants:
¤·60 - 31 days before arrival : 25% of total package cost
¤·30 - 16 days before arrival : 75% of total package cost
¤·15 days or less before arrival : 100% of total package amount
¤· No additional charges for substitutions made.

The International Pavilion

The Organization Committee for the 2001 Seoul 36th World Skills Competition plans to set up an International Pavilion to allow the World Skills Members to exhibit their country's technical and professional vocational training systems, cultural.phpects, etc.. to the visitors and other participants. The pavilions can also be utilized as an office.

The International Pavilion will be located on the 3rd floor of COEX, in the pre-function area. This area is located in the front of the Competition Site No. 4(Convention Hall), where high-technology trades such as graphic design, IT PC & Network support, etc.. will take place.

An estimated number of 100,000 visitors are expected to visit the competition site during the 4 days of competition. Wide variety of activities including the Skills Exhibition will be held together with the International Pavilion. We ask for your great interest in participating in the International Pavilion.
