Jenna Bailey (United Kingdom) |
Competitor: Beauty Therapy competitor, WorldSkills Competition, 1999 in Montreal
Currently: Beauty Therapy Lecturer, Preston College As well as her lecturing role at Preston College, Jenna is also the Competition Co-ordinator there. Her role involves preparing and supporting students who are competing in skills competitions. Jenna says: “I think the opportunities that I’ve had since competing at WorldSkills in Montreal have been great and so I want to encourage and support as many people as possible and share with them the real benefits of competing in skills competitions.” One of the opportunities which Jenna refers to was after she competed at the WorldSkills Competition when she applied for, and won, a scholarship to go and teach for a month at a beauty therapy college in Sydney. Today, in her lecturing role, Jenna can see the value of skills competitions from a new angle: “Being involved in skills competitions helps me to develop my own lecturing style. Comparing and contrasting techniques with other colleges and training providers makes me confident that I am lecturing and coaching students to the best of my ability.” |
