Competition Area: Autobody Repair

Michel Plourde is a native of Caraquet, NB. Ever since Michel was a young boy growing up in New Brunswick’s Acadian peninsula, he was always fascinated with cars. He used to spend his spare time in his father’s garage behind the house and dismantle and fix engines and anything that had to do with automobiles.

After high school, Michel had no doubts and enrolled in the Motor Vehicle Body Repair and Paint course at the New Brunswick Community College in Bathurst, NB (http://collegecommunautaire.ccnb.nb.ca/).

In the year 2000, Michel competed in the Skills Canada NB provincial Autobody Repair competition for the first time. He enjoyed his experience so much, he participated provincially twice more in 2001, and 2002.

In 2001, Michel won gold medal at the provincial contest and qualified to participate at the 2001 Canadian Skills Competition in Edmonton, Alberta.

Michel proudly brought back a Bronze Medal from the national event to New Brunswick. After his graduation from college, Michel volunteered as a judge for the provincial Autobody competitions held in NB and in 2005, Michel Plourde was hired as a full-time instructor in the Motor Vehicle Body Repair and Paint course at the NBCC in Bathurst.

Michel is still involved in Skills Canada activities and his passion for automobiles will now go on and will be passed on to his eager students in the future.
