Aircraft Maintenance Print E-mail

Skill explained

Aircraft maintenance technicians inspect, maintain and repair the various electrical/electronic, mechanical, fluid and structural components of airplanes and helicopters. Aircraft maintenance technicians are employed by aircraft manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul establishments, and by airlines, the armed forces and various other aircraft operators such as; commuter, firefighting, air ambulance, police etc.

Required skills

Communications (verbal and written), reading, mathematics & physics, good eyesight, attention to detail, problem-solving skills. Working alone, as part of a team and under supervision along with training and an extensive knowledge of local, National and International government aeronautic regulations.

What the Competitors do at the Competition

Competitors will be judged on the following activities:

Assembly – Sheet metal repair as per supplied drawing

Rigging – Use of supplied module

Daily Inspection – Visual Inspection of an Helicopter prior to flight

Removal and installation – component in simulator

Blending of a Compressor Blade

Gas Turbine Hot Section Inspection using a boroscope.

Fabricate wire loom and Troubleshoot an electrical wiring defect
