ONE SCHOOL ONE COUNTRY ...

is a programme held in conjunction with the WorldSkills Competition. Schools in the Host country are matched with a WorldSkills Member country/region.

In class, students learn about the values, traditions and culture of the WorldSkills Member that they have adopted, as well as information about the skilled trades and technologies represented at the Competition. Finally students and Competitors meet on the day of the Opening Ceremony when students welcome the Competitors at their schools.

ONE SCHOOL ONE COUNTRY is a wonderful programme that makes an intercultural exchange possible and opens the eyes of students to their future and the world. Communication among Competitors, Team Leader, Technical Delegate, Official Delegate and schools is therefore encouraged and appreciated.

In Germany, Leipzig's primary school children aged 7 to 10 years will take part in the programme. Specifically, students in grades three and four will receive the opportunity to learn about the culture and traditions of the WorldSkills Member country/region and about skilled trades and technologies. For the entire school year students will dedicate themselves to these topics, they will try to find answers to questions like:

Where is your country/region located?
What are the important cities in your country?
What do kids have for breakfast in your country?
Where can you spend summer holidays in your country/region?
Do you celebrate Christmas?
Who is the most popular singer on radio in your country and what is the music like?
What is the most popular occupation in your country?
Could you build a snowman in December?
Can you tell me more about Skills?
