Our National competition
was held at the Automate exhibition - 15th to 17th of October.
See images and final results below! Automate is a large engineering exhibition that is held in Melbourne one year and Sydney the next. This will provide great exposure for the Mechatronics competition and the equipment used to Australian industry. The remainder of our National WorldSkills competitions will be held in Newcastle (near Sydney) a week later. The winning Mechatronics team will attend as a demonstration event (and also provide additional training for the team). Bon Voyage for St Gallen Special luncheon for the Mechatronics team and other Victorian competitors. |

| Selection process Around Australia we have regions that run skills competitions and they choose what categories they run. For those that run Mechatronics, the winners of these regions then represent that region at the National competition. The National competition is a 3 day event (- the regional is only one day). This year's competitors will be working on the new MPS Release C stations recently purchased by Festo Australia for the competition. Due to a limited number of stations, the competition will be run in a format where teams will rotate on the stations performing complete tasks. The winners will be selected from the aggregate of their scores from the various tasks (of which there will be a larger focus on programming). This year the competitors can bring their own PLC whereas in the past they were forced to use Siemens S7's. |

| Preparation for St
Gallen Competitors selected for St Gallen will be supported financially by the Australian WorldSkills organisation and possibly by their employer. They will attend a training camp which focuses on the other factors important to making a team successful; such as teamwork within the Australian team itself and other things that influence performance as well as technical aspects for their specific categories. This will generally be a few days in duration and helps to form a bond between all of the team members for moral support etc at the competition. |
