2002 National competition
Following the provincial and territorial competitions, the Canadian Skills Competition is held to determine the best in the country. This year (the 8th competition) is in Vancouver, British Columbia from May 30 - June 2.
The Canadian Skills Competition allows young Canadians, studying a skilled trade or technology, to challenge themselves and to become the best in their discipline.
The competition showcases the talent, competence and expertise of competitors from across Canada. The objective of the activity is to provide a hands-on experience for the competitor and to raise the awareness of trades and technology careers.
Students compete at local, regional and provincial events to win the right to represent their province at the Canadian Skills Competition.
The Canadian Skills Competition, held under the supervision of the National Office of Skills Canada, is the first stage of building Team Canada for the World Skills Competition, which is hosted every two years. |

We use MPS station Distributing and Testing as competition equipment with Allen-Bradley PLC (MicroLogix and SLC503) and RSLogix software. Everybody has the same. The competition last two days and I did 4 tasks:
Day 1
1. assembly, programming and start up of station Distributing;
2. assembly, programming and start up of station Testing;
Day 2
3. Troubleshooting (At this point, the stations are not linked, but both has faults).
4. Networking of the two stations, with different sorting, different cycles controls (stop, start), plus E-Stop, etc... |
