São Paulo Secretary of Tourism receives a visit from WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 Organizing Committee

The secretary shows his support and his encouragement to produce the best WorldSkills Competition ever

The WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 Organizing Committee had a meeting with Wilson Poit, Secretary of Tourism for the City of São Paulo, on Friday 9 May, to discuss major aspects about the infrastructure of Anhembi Park, where the Competition will be held in 2015.

During the meeting, Mr. Poit reinforced his commitment by opening a special agenda with Anhembi Park to create improvements at the venue. "We will start the work on the floor of the complex in July," Poit said.

The Secretary also spoke about improvements on the IT infrastructure, in order to provide more than 5,000 people simultaneous access at Anhembi.

Osvaldo Borges, General Coordinator of WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 Organizing Committee, said that several international delegations will visit Brazil during this year and in 2015. A short-trip to Anhembi is on all of their agendas.

IMPACT OF THE COMPETITION IN SÃO PAULO

During the meeting, the Secretary was informed about the impact of the Competition in São Paulo: more than 1,000 Competitors and thousands of visitors from over 60 countries will require more than 4,000 hotel rooms, adding almost 60,000 hotel nights to August 2015. About security, Mr. Poit stated that during Carnival 2014, no incidences were registered at Anhembi Park, which further indicates that the changes that are being implemented are on the right track.

Mr. Poit also said first hand, that São Paulo will be awarded by the organizers of Formula 1 Championship as the best venue among the 18 countries that host the Championship. "This demonstrates the excellence of services in São Paulo." Poit said that the host city of the 43rd WorldSkills Competition was also awarded as the best travel destination of Brazil, according to Trip Advisors' Traveler's Choice 2014.

"We are willing to share the responsibility to make the best WorldSkills Competition of all time. We are creative and committed to exceed the expectations", said Mr. Poit.
