Scenario – the power of the events market in São Paulo

In less than one year, São Paulo will be the stage of the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world: the WorldSkills Competition. 

This edition, which already holds all records in the history of WorldSkills International – over 1,200 Competitors, 50 Skills and 59 countries and regions - will also be one of the largest events that the city will receive in 2015.

São Paulo represents 75% of the Brazilian market of exhibitions and fairs of various business segments and sizes, for a total of 90,000 events every year. Among the main ones, are the international motor show - which receives more than 700,000 visitors - the artistic and cultural manifestations, such as the Carnival, which attracts more than 100,000 visitors and the New Year´s Eve celebration, held on Paulista Avenue, with an estimated 2 million people.

To receive all these events, the city relies on 270,000 square meters of exhibition area for leasing and on an infinite number of service providers for organizing conventions.

  • Adventure Sports Fair: 50,000
  • Couromoda: 79,000
  • São Paulo Fashion Week: 100,000
  • Lollapalooza Brazil Festival: 140,000
  • Formula I Grand Prix: 142,000
  • Biennial Book Fair: 1 million
  • LGBT Parade: 4 million
  • Virada cultural (cultural street party with many music festival): 4 million

And in the next August, the WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 will be part of this scenario, with the expectation of receiving more than 200,000 visitors in one of the largest events complexes in Latin America, the Anhembi Parque with 400,000 m2 of total area.
