Namibia joined the WorldSkills family as an Associate Member in 2011 and upgraded to Full Member status in 2015. WorldSkills Namibia is the national hub for promoting vocational education and training in Namibia. Through national and international cooperation and development between industry, government, organizations, and institutions, we promote the benefits of and need for skilled professionals through grass-roots community projects, skills competitions and knowledge exchange.

The Namibia Training Authority (NTA) established its WorldSkills Namibia (WSN) secretariat in 2016 to be the vehicle in which vocational skills excellence and importance is promoted. As part of its mainstream responsibilities, WSN prepares and conducts a National Skills Competition (NSC) in which competitors from various vocational training institutions and industries in Namibia demonstrate and showcase their talents. The competition, which is held every second year, provides a means of exchange and comparison of competency standards in industrial trades and service sectors in Namibia.

Namibia has been to every WorldSkills Competition since 2011. WorldSkills Namibia had sent Competitors to 3 WorldSkills Competitions, including 4 Competitors to WorldSkills São Paulo 2015, 7 Competitors to WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, and 11 Competitors to WorldSkills Kazan 2019.
