Mobile Robotics

Mobile robotics technicians make mobile robots, assembling them, installing and operating control systems and maintaining mechanical systems.

Mobile robots are the focus of a great deal of research and almost every university has a lab that focuses on mobile robot research. As the name suggests, they are not fixed to one location and can be programmed to undertake precise movements. They can have industrial, commercial and consumer uses and can even perform tasks like vacuuming.

Mobile robotics technicians need to be skilled at designing and assembling control systems for robots, solve logic problems, and ultimately, control a robot to perform tasks or solve operational problems.
