Autobody Repair

Autobody repairers, also known as panel technicians, repair or replace the exterior panelling and body of a vehicle when damaged.

Damage to vehicle body work is common around the world and is usually due to accidents or corrosion. 75% of households in the UK have access to a car (National Statistics Online) and will need repairs at some point.

Autobody repairers diagnose the damage and start to repair it. Panel repairing equipment, bodywork realignment and measuring devices are all key tools, as is welding.

Once the damage is fixed, the panel can be painted and equipment like handles replaced. Autobody repairers need to understand car construction, materials and keep up to date with the latest technology.

What do you enjoy about your skill?

I get a great deal of job satisfaction out of what I do. For some people, a damaged car is like a broken toy and when I fix it and make it look good again, they are so pleased.
