Automobile Technology

Automobile technicians, or mechanics, keep our cars on the road, essential in today's world where we all depend on our vehicles.

Automobile technicians need to understand the construction and engineering of vehicles. This includes all car systems like handling, electronics, petrol and diesel engine systems, transmission and gear boxes and the chassis and steering system.

Technicians need to be able to diagnose problems, troubleshoot and solve them for their customers, using their time and materials efficiently.

Future development in this area will be dramatic, with cars becoming ever more digitally active, as satellite navigation and digital communications are increasingly installed; technicians will need to adapt to these challenges.
