A beauty therapist is a specialist in facial and body treatments, make up and skincare advice.

A beauty therapist is a specialist in facial and body treatments, make up and skincare advice.

Beauty therapists aim to improve the appearance, well being and even health of their clients by looking after the skin and body with a range of techniques and treatments. This can include massage, facials, manicures, pedicures and aromatherapy. Knowledge of hygiene, anatomy and physiology as well as listening skills and discretion are essential. New treatments and scientific discoveries also mean that this area is constantly changing and beauty therapists need to embrace this.

Beauty therapists are among the happiest of all workers (City & Guilds Happiness Survey 2008) and so it is a popular and competitive career choice.
