WorldSkills Africa Swakopmund 2022 is set to take place at one of Namibia’s elite event venues, The Dome.

With its perfect and extensive offering to sport, leisure, corporate and conference activities, sea-facing rooms, upmarket restaurants, high performance training centre, indoor pool and spa, the venue is a social epicentre at the coastal city of Swakopmund, and caters for sport groups and the leisure, corporate and conference markets.

WSAS2022 Project Manager, Sens Shoolongo highlights the venue’s proximity to the Swakopmund central business district and its state-of-the-art conference, modern and stylish facilities as key criteria the organisers considered in appointing The Dome as official WSAS2022 venue.

“The Dome ticks all the boxes – excellent facilities, a solid track record of hosting medium size to larger events of similar magnitude, 500 m from the beach, an outdoor sport stadium, and close proximity of about 25 kilometers from Walvis Bay International Airport”, he highlights.

The conference centre is situated on levels 4 and 5. It is a unique venue in many aspects and is designed to provide a wide array of solutions for business, sport and everything in between. The Swakop Room is at the heart of the conference centre and can provide seating for up to 600 people with various arrangement styles for any event, big or small.

Surrounding the Swakop Room are seven executive boardroom suites (ranging in size) as well as breakaway areas for serving food or for exhibition stands and some of the boardrooms even offer a unique view of the Atlantic Ocean. All the boardrooms are equipped with modern equipment.

To the northern side of the Conference Centre is an outside deck, with two fully equipped bars, enough space for 350 people, bathroom facilities and a stage for entertainment, with an optional open or closed roof environment, perfect for any occasion.

“To date, The Dome has been dedicated to the task at hand in helping the WSAS2022 organising team to realise our vision of a successful continental event”, Shoolongo shared.
