The industrial landscape throughout Europe is moving further from the traditional construction and manual skill-sets towards those requiring creativity, innovation, sustainability and often high technology. School systems are still producing graduates with traditional qualifications and knowledge, which is becoming less relevant to industry.
How can we instil within students the values, core competences and working practices required by industry while still at school?
Is there an inertia within traditional education that would resist this evolution in favour of more traditional academic outcomes? This session will explore these questions and attempt to provide solutions which would be acceptable to both industry and academia, in such a way as to inspire young people to work towards improving economic output.
