It's our aim to get young people excited about a future in the skilled professions. The next step is to turn that excitement into a career. Apprenticeship programs and other post-secondary trades training across the country prepare young people for fulfilling careers in areas where the demand is high (we'll need an estimated 1 million skilled professionals within 20 years) and the pay is above the national average (3.1% if you're wondering).

So how does someone get the training they need to fill one of these amazing jobs? We're glad you asked. Keep in mind that these links are Alberta based, but similar organizations exist in each Province and Territory across Canada. Oh, and don't forget to have students visit your school Guidance Counselor.

Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training, work experience and technical training in a skilled profession. It's also a great way to start a career. Find all the information a student will need on Alberta's Apprenticeship program:

Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP)
