At the handover ceremony, Standard Bank’s head of branding and marketing, Magreth Mengo, said: “It is in our communities where dreams are sparked and skills of greatness are sown and nurtured.”
Standard Bank as a bronze level sponsor also selected the hairdressing skill area, which is aligned with the creative arts which they actively advocate for.
“I am of the opinion that companies must align their corporate social responsibilities with their corporate goals to have a meaningful impact on society,” said Mengo.
On his part, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Training Authority, Muvatera Ndjoze-Siririka, highlighted that it is well recognised that to raise the productivity of our economy, we have to continuously strengthen our skills base. In this regard, education and training remain the path to knowledge, skills and values. It empowers individuals, enables the creation of wealth, and promotes social and economic mobility.
The goal for this and each WorldSkills Competition is to inspire competitors to reach new heights and help them turn their passion into a profession.
“We thank you for your investment in our country and its people, and we look forward to new partnerships in the near future.Your investment is indeed an investment in our most important natural resource – our people. We believe in Africa, and we trust that the future is African,” said Ndjoze-Siririka.
