Description:

During the last decades we have witnessed changes in the age structure of the population. Mortality and birth rates are decreasing due to the improvement of living standards and progress achieved in science, enabling the increase of life expectancy.

During the last decades we have also witnessed huge changes in family structures in western populations. These changes include the decrease of the probability of marriage, at the same time divorce rates have increased considerably, resulting into shorter relationships but also to a larger number of relationships. At the same time families are becoming smaller.

These demographic and social trends can have a strong impact on the employment structure and on society. These facts will lead to the provision of services with the purpose to meet new needs, from basic (personal care services) to more demanding (leisure or cultural services).

These needs are increasingly felt by the population at large, especially among older and younger age groups as the potential customers of these services.

Household chores, how they are done and shared, will most certainly be affected by these changes in the family structure.

Therefore it is only natural that activities and services aimed at carrying out tasks and meeting needs that, for several reasons, can no longer be carried out by families.

The growing number of women in the labor market will lead to the acquisition of food or baby-sitting services taking into account the short period of hours spent by parents at home, fostering the emergence of services and companies with a strong relational and emotional component.

Thus this meeting aims at introducing neighborhood services and the employment opportunities, as well as the skills linked to this type of services; quality in neighborhood services; employability with enhanced social responses; main factors and features of social exclusion in today’s society; globalization and social exclusion and, last but not least, presenting cases of vocational qualification and integration within the scope of community care services.
